Steel entry doors that hold the line at −30°
A 24-gauge galvanized skin over a poured polyurethane core: the toughest face you can put on a front wall, about R-7 through the slab, and the option most Barrie homeowners land on when security and budget both matter. What decides whether it still seals in February is the sill pan, the shims and the multi-point lock — and that is our part of the job.
- R-7 insulated core
- Multi-point locking
- We cover the HST — 13% off

The most door you can buy for the money
Steel gives you the strongest skin per dollar. A 24-gauge face over a rigid foam core resists a shoulder, a pry bar and a hockey puck alike, and the frame around it — not the slab — is where an intruder actually gets in, which is why we fit a reinforced strike and a three-point lock as standard rather than as an upgrade.
- 24-gauge galvanized skin, thicker than the 26-gauge sold at the big-box stores
- Poured polyurethane core: around R-7, roughly triple an old wood slab
- Thermal break in the frame so the inside face stays above dew point
- Reinforced lock block and strike plate anchored into the framing, not the jamb
- Factory finish in 20+ colours, or primed for painting on site
- R-7 through the slab
- 24 ga galvanized skin
- 20+ yrs typical service life
Six panel layouts, one steel build
Every door below is a 24-gauge steel slab over an insulated core — the layout decides the look, and the glass cutout decides how much light reaches the hall. All six come in five factory colours.

2 Panel Blank Door
Versatile space. Classic style. A blank upper section is the perfect canvas for a large doorglass, while two lower panels keep the classic definition. Suits both traditional and transitional homes.

2 Panel Camber Top
Elegant curves. Timeless warmth. A country-inspired arched upper panel gives a soft, welcoming look. Can stay solid or take a camber or straight-top glass cutout.

2 Panel Planked Camber Top
Rustic charm. Timeless character. A tall camber-top upper panel over a planked lower panel — the handcrafted look of a country door with the durability of steel.

3 Panel Scroll Top
Classic curves. Timeless detail. The scroll top panel adds a soft curve that carries a door knocker or an oval doorglass beautifully. Low maintenance, high security.

4 Panel
Classic form. Versatile style. Balanced traditional look with clean raised panels, in 36" × 80" and 32" × 80". Takes doorglass at 22 × 9, 22 × 9 planked, 22 × 36, 8 × 36 or half-moon.

6 Panel
Classic lines. Timeless appeal. Our best-seller. The panel layout takes window cutouts at 7 × 64, 22 × 36, 12 × 12 and 12 × 9 — or no window at all.
Eleven named collections
Contemporary and traditional designs with their own embossing, glass and accent colour. Ask for a colour sample at the measure — the accent shade is what people notice from the street.

Era
Sleek lines. Modern privacy. A tall satin-glass insert lets daylight into the hall without putting it on display, and recessed accents give the slab a sharp architectural edge.

Linea
Post-industrial detail. Narrow-entry elegance. Embossed post-industrial detailing and a slim vertical glass insert. Made for narrow entryways where every centimetre of light counts.

London
Noble panels. Timeless character. A refined traditional layout with soft, understated panels. Works as easily on a century brick front as on a new transitional build.

Orleans
Elegant proportions. Timeless charm. A balanced two-panel design with graceful detailing — warm and welcoming, but polished enough for an upscale modern entrance.

Oso
Slim lines. Refined impact. Slim, discreet embossed lines with carefully crafted relief. The offset embossing takes either a doorglass or a full-length pull bar.

Soho
Classic panels. Contemporary confidence. The iconic four-panel shaker design: clean lines, balanced proportions, and curb appeal that suits both contemporary and natural-toned homes.

Sydney
Bold design. Timeless appeal. A distinctive three-panel configuration with strong architectural presence — depth and weight at the entrance without extra ornament.

Tao
Organic lines. Modern calm. Horizontal lines with gentle organic curves that add movement to a smooth steel face. Bold and minimalist at the same time.

Uno
Light-filled panels. Creative modern style. Four stacked glazed panels make a bright, contemporary entrance while keeping a calm silhouette. Configurations, sizes and finishes are all adjustable.

Victoria
Traditional lines. Farmhouse charm. A Shaker profile reinterpreted the traditional way — pairs naturally with farmhouse-inspired exteriors. Add a doorglass or a decorative shelf.

Vogue
Graceful lines. Signature style. Horizontal lines and angular embossed details on a smooth, refined surface. The one to finish in a colour that becomes the signature of the house.

Steel door replacement across Simcoe County
We fit steel entry doors in Barrie, Innisfil, Springwater, Essa and Bradford, usually within one working day per opening. The 13% HST comes off your quote, and where the project qualifies we prepare the paperwork for the Enbridge Home Renovation Savings rebate — $100 per rough opening.

Where steel wins, and where it does not
Nobody should sell you one material for every opening. Steel is the strongest and the least expensive per square foot; it is also the one that shows a dent and the one to avoid on a south-facing wall in full sun without an overhang.
- Best value on security: the skin resists forced entry better than any other material
- Dents stay dented — a steel slab cannot be sanded back the way wood can
- Full sun on a dark steel door builds heat; fibreglass handles that exposure better
- Coastal-style wind-driven rain at Wasaga? Ask us about a thermally broken aluminum frame
When a front door is past patching
A door is a moving part with a seal around it. Once these show up, weatherstripping and a new deadbolt only buy you a season.
- Daylight visible around the slab, or a draft you can feel from the hall
- Rust blooming along the bottom rail — the core is already taking on water
- The deadbolt only turns if you lean on the door
- Frost or condensation on the inside face on a cold morning
- The frame has swollen or the bottom of the jamb is soft to a screwdriver
- Sticking in summer, rattling in winter — the opening has moved and the door has not
Measured, built and fitted in one day
Same five steps on every entry door we install, whatever the material.

We measure the rough opening, check the frame for rot and square, and look at how the wall is finished. Twenty minutes, no charge, no pressure.
-
Written quote
One price for slab, frame, hardware, capping and disposal, with the 13% HST discount already applied. Nothing gets added on install day.
-
Order and build
Your door is built to the opening we measured. Two to five weeks depending on colour, glass and hardware — we confirm the date once the unit is in.

Installation day
Old unit out, sill pan in, new frame shimmed plumb and foamed with low-expansion foam, hardware set and adjusted. One day for a single entry door.
-
Walk-through and paperwork
We show you the lock adjustment, hand over the warranty, and prepare what the Enbridge rebate needs if your project qualifies.
Steel doors we have fitted
Every one of these is a replacement in an existing opening — the frame, the capping and the sill are as much of the job as the slab.

«The old steel door had rusted through at the bottom and the hallway was freezing. The new one seals so well the draught stopper is out of a job.»
Steel doors — the questions we get
Security, rust, insulation and rebates.
Twenty years or more when the bottom of the slab stays dry. What kills a steel door early is standing water at the sill, so the sill pan and the capping matter more than the brand on the sticker. We replace both on every install.
The skin is galvanized and factory-finished, so it does not rust from the surface. Rust starts where the finish is broken — a scrape at the bottom rail, a scratch from a snow shovel — and then spreads under the paint. Touch up any bare metal the same season and the door will outlast the mortgage.
Against a kick or a pry bar, yes — the skin is harder to breach. In practice most break-ins go through the frame, not the slab, which is why we anchor the strike plate into the framing on every door. If you want the security of steel with a wood look that shrugs off sun, compare it with our fibreglass doors.
An ENERGY STAR® certified entry door counts as one rough opening — $100 back through the Home Renovation Savings Program, run by Enbridge Gas with Save on Energy, funded to 30 November 2026. The program wants an energy assessment and a second upgrade in the same project; we supply the documentation for our part.
Yes. Scuff the factory finish, prime any bare metal and use an exterior acrylic. Keep in mind that a dark colour on a wall that gets full afternoon sun runs hot, which is hard on the finish and on the weatherstripping.
Rule of thumb: steel for security and budget, fibreglass for exposed elevations and a wood look that lasts, aluminum for oversized or heavily glazed openings. The full side-by-side, including timber and secured doors, is on our entry doors page.
